I’ve worked across design and web development for nearly 20 years, starting out in graphic and web design before gradually moving deeper into front-end development, programming and the wider digital side of running websites.
That mix of disciplines has stayed with me throughout my career. I’m as comfortable thinking about how something should look and communicate as I am considering how it should be built, how someone will use it and how it will perform.
Today my work spans web development, digital design, UX, SEO, content and digital strategy.

Design + Code
Looking back, the common thread throughout my career has been working somewhere between design and technology.
I started primarily as a designer who could build websites. Over time I became a developer who still thought like a designer.
That distinction remains important to how I work today. I don’t see design, development, UX, content and technology as completely separate disciplines. They’re different parts of solving the same problem.
More recently I’ve also returned to using code as a creative medium, particularly through Processing, Java and p5.js. It reconnects the two sides of my career: the visual experimentation that originally drew me into design and the programming skills I’ve developed through years of professional web development.
